Which Way Nigeria?

It is a heartbreaking development although I was not completely taken aback when I heard the
decision of the Senate over the under-aged marriage.

So sad to behold what our great country is becoming. Nigeria has turned out to be a place where any thing goes. A country where bad is better celebrated than the good. A country where the poor become poorer and the rich richer. A country where a 'big man' commits a crime and goes unpunished but a poor man commits same crime or a lesser one and he is sent to prison for life.

It is a country where the UNDER-AGED MARRIAGE law does not affect the daughters of most of the Senators who voted because their fathers have sent them to foreign countries to receive the best education and enjoy the sweetness of growing through the different stages of their lives till the day they willingly decide to marry the man of their choice.

I tell you, these men would not have sat down to imagine this wickedness let alone passing it into law if their mothers were forced to be married at tender ages.

Where do we go from here? What would become of the future? I thought these children are the ones fondly called the futures of tomorrow?

Isn't this a sign that the world is actually coming to an end even faster than we ever imagined? I tell you, the world is coming to an end when over 30 fathers sit in a meeting and the best they can think for their innocent god-given daughters is to pass a law which force them to become mothers without their consent or being allowed to enjoy their years of growing up.

Who knows how God will be feeling. Who knows the amount of tears HE must be shedding by now to see what is becoming of his country?

I plead with you all, lets arise and fight for the rights of our daughters, our sisters, our future mothers and leaders.
I ask, has growing up and enjoying the precious gift of childhood become a crime in Nigeria?

Help us Dear God
