President Goodluck Jonathan has appointed interim ministers to replace the nine he sacked. The interim ministers include:
Labaran Maku (Minister of Information) – Ministry of Defence
Nyesom Wike (Minister of State for Education) to oversee Ministry of Education
Darius Ishaku (Minister of State for Niger Delta Development) to oversee Ministry of Environment
Musa Sada (Minister of Solid Mineral Dev) to oversee Ministry of Lands, Housing & Urban Development
Omobola Johnson (Minister of Communication Technology) to oversee Ministry of Science and Technology
Bashir Yuguda (Minister of state, Works) to oversee Ministry of National Planning.
Akinwumi Adesina (Ministers of Agriculture) to oversee Ministry of State for Agriculture
Chinedu Nebo (Minister of Power) to overseeMinistry of Power for State

According to Information Minister, Labaran Maku he was given the responsibility to oversee the Ministry of Defence pending the appointment of a new Minister.
Maku noted that the cabinet reshuffle had nothing to do with the crisis in the PDP but the decision of the President to inject new blood into his cabinet, adding that it was a decision to re-focus government for greater service delivery to the Nigerian public.
The Minister said it was a decision that had been speculated in the media and not unusual in any administration that government reshuffled cabinet.
In an interview with correspondents, one of the affected Ministers, Mailafia, said they were exiting the cabinet `honourably’.
We have been part of the government and I owe a lot to it.
“We have been honoured to serve and we are moving out honourably, and I think that is important. Many have come and gone without honour.
“If you are wise enough, life is a cycle and from the day you come in you should know there is exit.
Every Wednesday, I come in here hoping one day there will be a cabinet reshuffle,’’ she said.

Minister of Environment; Hadiza Ibrahim Mailafa
Minister of State for Agriculture; Alhaji Bukar Tijani Borno
Minister of Housing and Urban Development; Amma Pepple
Minister of Science and Technology; Prof. Ita Okon Bassey Ewa.
Maku had also stated that the President had expressed satisfaction and appreciated the sacked ministers for the excellent ways they handled their offices, assuring them that he would engage them in other National assignments whenever the opportunities arise.
