Nigeria’s Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke has been elected president of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) today, Thursday November 27 at the ongoing 166th General Meeting of the organization in Vienna, Austria.
The minister who is the first female to occupy this position is taking over from Libya’s Vice Prime Minister for Corporations, Abdourhman Atahar Al-Ahirish. Her position as the OPEC president will elapse after one year.
